Fourth Graders commemorated 9/11 by celebrating the heroes of the day- first responders- firefighters, police, rescue teams, etc. We also spoke about "everyday people'" who jumped in to help others in need. In addition, we learned about service dogs and rescue dogs who stayed calm and used their training to save many lives.
To culminate our learning, we learned the song, "Proud to be An American," by Lee Greenwood. Finally, we all thought about "heroes" in our lives and wrote about them in our journals. It was a meaningful morning.
