This morning, we had the privilege of welcoming Morah Shani's husband, Ari Farkas to speak to the Fourth Grade. Up until now, we have focused our study of immigration on Jewish immigration from the 1880's to the early 1920"s. Ari, an immigration lawyer, taught us about immigration now. He spoke about how it is both similar and different to immigration back at the turn of the 20th century. We learned about the process of acquiring a green card, and later becoming a citizen. The students asked sophisticated and thought-provoking questions. Ari's visit came just in time for our upcoming trip to Ellis Island this Wednesday! Thank you, Ari, for taking the time out of your busy day to come and speak to us. Thank you to Morah Shani for helping us arrange this wonderful event!
